Save the Therapist
educational. engaging. accessible. FREE.
First came annoyance. Why do we have to pay in order to continue learning and maintain our licenses? Then a wild idea. What if therapists could learn about relevant topics in the mental health field without a credit card charge, traveling to a far off conference, or endlessly staring at a computer screen? And voilà. Save the Therapist—a totally free and accessible CE podcast series—was born.

Yup. We will never ask for a credit card or a bank account. Truly, never.
-
There's no catch. From the beginning, our vision has been that therapists should not be charged to continue learning.
If you're still skeptical, read about the history of our project below.
-
Our founder and host Dr. Tobin Richardson has worked in the counselor education field for the better part of a decade. His life work has revolved around making adult educational experiences better.
Tobin has told anyone who would listen that the lack of high quality and easily accessible online continuing education for therapists was a systemic issue that needed fixed.
Simultaneously, as a passion project, he was learning and building skills in produced podcasting. He felt strongly this format was so often the most accessible way to get folks the information they need, in a way that works for them.
So he decided to save money, connect with specialized experts around the country, and spend lots of nights and weekends in front of his MacBook building content. And the product of all this is what you are seeing here.

As many as are currently available through our platform. Produced podcasts take a lot of time to build, but over time we plan to build our library of courses to be bigger and bigger. Our goal is to eventually provide enough courses (and the right topics) so every therapist can complete their entire licensure requirement here, if they want to.

Login to the LMS section of this platform. Then, complete all required course sections, including an evaluation and a brief post-test.
After successfully completing a course, you'll be issued a PDF Certificate of Completion. Most state licensure boards require you to keep these in case of an audit rather than to upload/ submit them.
-
Most likely. While individual licensure boards always make the call on what credit they'll accept, we are an Approved Continuing Education Provider by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and the Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). But when in doubt, research or reach out to your state licensure board to be sure.

We won't say no. While this platform will always be free for therapists, the truth is that content creation is a pricey endeavor. So even a few dollars will help us to keep the content coming quickly.
